We started painting today!!!

It's almost time for New Year's Eve celebrations and we are so close to being finished with our renos n onto moving back in and decorating :p

We started with painting the skirting today :)

I was annoyingly very sick :( so made it through an hour or so of work before I was in so much pain I was almost begging to go home to bed :( not sure exactly what's wrong with me but fingers
crossed..... it's something I ate?

This has been a tough 6 months but now that we are near the end it's all worth it. We have made it through the storm! We still have some $$$ lol..... "some" can mean different things to different people..... I wish it meant more to me!

I can't thank Chris enough for being such a captain!!! of our ship on our expedition. He really has been so strong and proactive we really wouldn't be where we are today if it weren't for him!

AND my dad! My wonderful dad, fireman, builder, the best dad ever. I always thought dad would be the brains! the know-how! tell etc etc to do etc etc BUT he has done it all!!! He has been there more than anyone. Calculating and putting together the puzzle that is our new home. He has done as much of it as he can himself with the help of a handful of tradies/specialists.

The rest of the skirtings/house to paint tomoz! nite nite xx

Demo has begun

Demo work has finally started this week - it's great to see progress getting made.
Hopefully next week we will be ready to lay the new concrete slab.

Glacier pace

Not post in a while - thats because not much has happened really. We should have all documents the Certifier needs to start the construction process by end of next week - just waiting on a document from the building designer showing DA condition references and a document from the engineer stating structural stability of existing party walls. Hopefully start to demo start of next month! In other DA news - the council has requested a landscape plan by a qualified landscape designer, a swept path analysis and amended roof plans to minimise neighbour over shadowing. The proposed studio above garage blocked out too much light apparently. So far ive organised a landscaper to start on a design, had a swept path analysis done and will discuss on weekend with builder as to best garage attic roof option. Should get all this back to council in 2 to 3 weeks’ time- then council can assess the DA

tree news.... not good

Received a letter in the post from council today saying tree removal was denied. They didnt even take into consideration the sewage pipe damage from invasive roots - yet they used it as one of the original reasons of rejection.

I thought we had a good case so seeking advice from a Town planner before giving up.

Hopefully will hear back before end of November re: DA amendment - the notification period expired on the 15th Nov and no complaints were received.

Fingers crossed we can get 1 out of 2 at least... here's hoping

DA notification round 2

DA notification round 2.

Wasn't actually aware that notification was needed for a section 96 especially as there were no complaints for the original proposed plan... and now we are proposing less in the plans - so i dont really see the point. Playing the waiting game again now before we can start getting quotes off builders.

Either way here's the DA link and map below

Might hopefully have some news on tree removal application by the end of the week.

DA round 2

Yesterday (25/10) i waited in line at Town Hall city of sydney council to submit our DA amendment. I also submitted tree removal application separately
More monies of course. Yes this has been a slow process indeed!

Interesting to see how long it takes till we hear something back this time though, as we addressed all the original comments in the altered design, the DA already has a planner and no need to notify neighbours for a section 96.

Below you can see the basic rear layout as the front is not being touched.

Fingers crossed for a successful application(s). Hope to start building beginning of the year
